History

In 1947, amidst the alleys of Varanasi, the Benaras Deaf & Dumb School Association was born from the compassionate hearts of philanthropists. From humble beginnings in a rented space, our institution grew with the benevolent gesture of Mrs. Tarubala Ghosh, who provided us with a plot of land in memory of her beloved son, Bimal Chandra Ghosh. With the support of generous donations, our school gradually took shape, finding its permanent home in 1970. Over the years, Benaras Deaf & Dumb School’s our dedication to excellence in educational rehabilitation has been recognised by esteemed institutions, including the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. We have proudly received accolades for our commitment to nurturing not only minds but also souls, empowering every child to find their voice and their place in the world. Despite the challenges we face, such as the late identification of hearing or speech disability among children in impoverished homes, and in need and the scarcity of skilled professionals, we remain steadfast in our mission. We envision a future where barriers crumble, and dreams take flight, and our school stands as a beacon of excellence in education and skill development.. As we look ahead, our dreams unfurl with audacity and hope. We envision an audiology clinic equipped with state-of-the-art technology, providing compassionate care to restore the gift of sound to those in need. We see skill development centres where potential blossoms and destinies are shaped with purpose and creativity.
